Pino’s Musings on Summer
BRING ON THE CHORES OF SUMMER |
Dear Friends and Customers,
With the unofficial start of summer coming this weekend, I must say I am ready for the warm weather, the sunshine and dining al fresco. I look forward to the “chores” of summer, everything from taking out the umbrellas to setting up the Summer Terrace to growing my own herbs in the big pots at the restaurant’s entrance. I relish my trips to the local food vendors and farms on Long Island to hand pick the heirloom tomatoes and summer produce I will use in the kitchen to create original summer dishes for the menu. Why do I love the summer… perhaps because it is so short and fleeting? As I noted fifteen years ago in Simply Tuscan, “think about it, how many great nights do we have in our lives? How many beautiful, temperate, moon-drenched evenings when we actually have the time to stop and just enjoy ourselves, our friends and our families?”
I hope to welcome you to our Summer Terrace soon. Sincerely, Pino |
